27th of Airin 365 IV
The decission by Ceannard Cadman to send 70 Hill Folk warriors abroad on what's called "a rescue mission of death" has sparked intense dissatisfaction among the population of the Fearann.
Apparently it's a question of a foreigner who's been captured, and another foreigner who pleads for help. They apparently base their plead on their involvement in the Old Land Stand where they sided with the defenders - a decission made by many foreigners out of numerous reasons. Some aided Teardrop, while others sided with Leikrson. Many were known to partake in the war merely for the gold, or even the kill. Few fought for the Hill Folk alone. The wording in the hills goes:
"Are the Hill Folk eternally in debt to foreigners fighting in a war to gain gold or to taste blood? Are the Hill Folk going to be taxed forever through having to sacrifice lives? Haven't we suffered enough? Most of our young and able lay slain, our farms and homes are destroyed and we balance on the brink of poverty and death!" |

2nd of Haerius 365 IV
Ceannard Cadman stood before the Comhairle and a large gathering of Hill Folk today, holding a speech in which he explained his use of Hill Folk warriors in a mission abroad. The speech has calmed down the intensity of the dissatisfaction considerably.
Countrymen,
The auxilliary force used for this mission are not part of the Sluagh, but rather men and women that has sought me out personally to serve for a greater Fearann and a stronger and more stable Old Land region. The auxilliary force serves how and where I find best. The national army is another matter. I stand by my decission and don't particularly care about the political fallout.
Now I can understand your concerns. We wil not rescue every adventurer that gets in trouble. We are not personally indebted to anyone that served in the war, but there are a key group of twenty or so induviduals without which we could not have won and without which, the entire region would be less stable. I know that the people we are aiding now are absolutely key in this respect.
In order to have allies to fall back on, we need to stand by them in times of need. Ruvat, who asks for aid in this matter, is a person that falls firmly into the ally category. He an integral part of the concordat, an influential Brunite and the leader of group of very powerful individuals, including Mstislav, the northern Forayer. They stood by us and infact led the charge against the Dragon.
To lead means to have the courage to make impopular decissions in order to get what is needed to be done, done. |
